Short Film Competition by Prima Will & Wasiyyah Ventures

Terms & Conditions

  1. Introduction
    1. Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures, in collaboration with Vadai Productions, are pleased to announce a Short Film competition open to filmmakers of all backgrounds.
    2. The competition aims to promote “Awareness on Wills and Trusts & Wasiah and Hibah” through creative content.
    3. Participants are required to submit an original short film of no more than five (5) minutes, with a minimum length of three (3) minutes. A total of one (1) video with credits should be submitted.
    4. The winner of the competition will receive a Cash Prize of Ringgit Malaysia Five Thousand (RM 5,000.00) decided by a panel of judges at their sole discretion.
    5. In addition, a special bonus prize of a Video Project worth minimum Ringgit Malaysia Fifteen Thousand (RM 15,000.00) will be awarded to a special winner, chosen by Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures at their sole discretion.
  1. Background of the company
    1. Prima Will
      • Prima Will is a retail & agency that offers will writing service primarily focusing on the Conventional / Non-Islamic Market.
      • They provide services such as Basic Will, Personal Will, Family Will, SEDA Guide and Customize Will/Trusts
    2. Wasiyyah Ventures
      • Wasiyyah Ventures is a cooperate company that offers will writing service primarily focusing on Islamic Market.
      • They provide services such as i-Wasiyyah and i-Hibah
  1. Eligibility
    1. The competition is open to individuals who are 18 years old or older at the time of entry.
    2. By entering the competition, participants warrant that they are eligible to participate under the applicable laws governing procurement of prizes and awards.
    3. Each participant in the competition must agree to fully and unconditionally comply with these rules and the decisions made by the competition and its designated judges. The judges’ decisions shall be final and binding in all respects.
  1. Competition Period
    1. The competition will begin on April 15, 2023, and end on May 25, 2023 (the “Competition Period“).
  1. How to Register
    1. Participant is required to register at our designated registration portal by April 30, 2023 (“Registration Due Date”).

    3. Participant is required to pay an entry fee of RM100.00. Entry fee is non-refundable.
    4. The registration portal will be open till 11.59PM on April 30, 2023. Kindly register before the Registration Due Date.
  1. How to Submit Short Film
    1. Submission portal details will be included in the confirmation email upon registration.
    2. The short film submission must be done through the submission portal before 11:59PM on May 25, 2023. Any submission outside of the Competition Period will be disqualified.
    3. Each participant is allowed to submit only one (1) entry.
    4. Participants must make sure to be registered prior to the submission of the short film during the Competition Period.
    5. Participants short films must not be shared via any online avenues. All information provided by the participant must be complete, true, and correct.
    6. Prima Will, Wasiyyah Ventures and Vadai Productions shall not be responsible or liable for (i) lost, stolen, late, incomplete, invalid, mutilated, illegible, or misdirected entries, which will be disqualified; or (ii) any technical failures, including electronic malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software; or (iii) for any errors, whether human, technical or otherwise.
    7. Short film received after the submission deadline of the Competition Period will not be accepted for review and shall be destroyed.
  1. Award Sum
    1. A total amount of Ringgit Malaysia Five Thousand (RM 5, 000.00) (“Cash Prize”) will be awarded to the Winner. The Winner shall be decided by panel of judges, at their sole and absolute discretion.
    2. As well as project worth minimum Ringgit Malaysia Fifteen Thousand (RM 15,000.00) (“Video Project”) which will be determine by the Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures, at their sole and absolute discretion.
    3. All rights to the short film, including but not limited to copyrights and ownership, shall belong solely and exclusively to Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures.
  1. Entry Requirements
    1. The following requirements shall apply to all Participants and their Entries:
      1. The content theme of the competition shall be:
        • Theme 1: Awareness on Wills and Trust (Prima Will)
        • Theme 2: Awareness on Wasiyyah and Hibah (Wasiyyah Ventures)
      2. Participants can select only ONE (1) theme from above per entry.
      3. Entries shall comprise a short film with a maximum running time of five (5) minutes including credits and a minimum running time of three (3) minutes.
      4. Language of Short Film
        • For the “Theme 1”, the short film can be in Malay, Tamil, Mandarin or English language.  Please note that for non-English mediums, you are required to include English subtitles.
        • For the “Theme 2”, the short film can be in Malay or English language. Please note that for Malay medium, you are required to include English subtitles.
      5. All components of the Entry must be the original creation of the Participant, except that Prima Will’s and Wasiyyah Ventures’ products may be incorporated.
      6. The entries should contain the following components:

          • Originally created short film which delivers social message based on the theme selected.
          • Creatively made content which delivers the theme awareness effectively.
          • Organic highlights on unique selling points (USP) of:
            • Prima Will (Theme 1)
            • Wasiyyah Ventures (Theme 2) [Click Here]
        3. End Credit

      7. Entries shall not contain any profanity, nudity, pornographic images, explicit sexual themes, graphic violence, defamatory or libellous statements or material considered illegal. Entries which infringe on any intellectual property rights or other rights will also be disqualified.
      8. Participants are responsible for securing necessary permissions, talent, and location releases and licenses for visual and audio material contained in the submissions.
      9. Prima Will, Wasiyyah Ventures, and Vadai Productions shall not be responsible or liable for any loss, damages, claims costs or expenses incurred in or arising from the production or delivery of the film entries.
      10. Any entry that does not comply with the above requirements or any other terms herein shall be disqualified.
  1. Selection of Winner
    1. Each Entry that is in compliance with these Rules will be reviewed by a panel of judges. The Entries will be evaluated based upon the following factors:
      • Originality.
      • Creativity.
      • Content Relevance.
      • Story Telling Ability.
      • Technical Quality.
      • Bonus Point-Most Numbers of Likes and Shares
    2. The panel of judges for Cash Prize winner will be:
      • Representative from Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures
      • Representative from Vadai Productions
      • Representative from Malaysian Film Indusry
    3. The judges for Video Project winner will be representative from Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures only.
    4. ALL DECISIONS OF THE JUDGES ARE FINAL AND BINDING. No inquiries or appeals shall be entertained.

  1. Winning and Notification
    1. Vadai Productions will attempt to notify the Winner by email or on mobile phone, using the contact details provided on the Entry Form.
    2. The Winner will be announced to the public via social medias and other means of online media.
    3. The announcement of the Winner is scheduled for May 31, 2023. Participants will be notified in advance if there are any adjustments to the announcement date.
  1. Ownership and License of Entries
    1. The ownership of the Entries shall belong to Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures. Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures confirm that they possess all the rights (including intellectual property rights) to the animation(s)/image(s)/material(s) in the animation and/or film sequences submitted.
    2. By submitting the Entries, each Participant grants Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures a perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free license (“License“) to use, reproduce, edit, distribute, publish, broadcast, stream, make derivative works of, and authorize third parties to use, reproduce, edit, distribute, publish, broadcast, stream, make derivative works of, and otherwise exploit the Entries in any manner.
    3. Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures have the sole discretion to edit, translate, dub, or alter the Entries, including size, aspect ratio, or running length.
    4. Each Participant’s submission of the Entry Form signifies his/her acceptance of the License and Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures right to edit the Entries as stated herein.
    5. Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures will not return any tangible copies of the Entries to the Participants and shall not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage thereof. Participants acknowledge that they have received adequate compensation from Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures in exchange for the rights granted herein.
    6. Participants must seek approval from Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures if they intend to upload the Entries on any media.
  1. General Terms and Conditions
    1. By participating in the Competition, the Participant fully and unconditionally agrees to abide by these Rules and accepts them without reservation.
    2. The Participant’s consent to Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures’ use of their name, city, state, likeness, photograph, statements about the Competition, Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures, and/or prize information for promotional purposes in any media, without any additional payment or compensation, except where prohibited by law.
    3. Upon entering the Competition, the participant agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures, the Competition sponsors, their affiliated companies, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, and judges from any claim or cause of action arising from their participation in the Competition, including, but not limited to, any claim of intellectual property infringement or any issues related to receipt, possession, use, or misuse of any prize. Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures reserves the right to modify or cancel the Competition at its convenience or if fraud, technical issues, or any other factor beyond Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures’ reasonable control compromises the integrity of the Competition, as determined solely by Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures. Any disputes arising from or related to the Competition or the selection of winning entries will be resolved by Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures at its sole discretion.
  1. Miscellaneous
    1. Participant agrees that:
      • In the event of any disputes, claims, or causes of action arising from or related to this Competition, no class action may be initiated. The parties involved must first attempt to resolve the dispute amicably. If an amicable resolution is not possible, the parties agree to be bound by the legal jurisdiction of Malaysian Courts.
      • Any claims, judgments, and awards will be limited to the actual out-of-pocket expenses incurred, including expenses associated with entering this Competition, but not including attorney’s fees.
      • The Participant waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental, consequential damages, or any other damages, except for actual out-of-pocket expenses. The Participant also waives any rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.
      • Any issues or questions regarding the validity, interpretation, construction, and enforceability of these Rules, or the rights and obligations of the Participant and Prima Will and Wasiyyah Ventures and its agents concerning the Competition, shall be governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any choice of law or conflict of law provisions that would result in the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Malaysia shall not be given effect.
